Our Mission

We, a community of Christ’s disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit to grow in faith,

obey God’s word and encourage others to share the joy of discipleship.

Our Vision

We strive to grow as disciples by giving the Holy Spirit room to work in us through:

Praying, Inviting, Giving, Serving, Studying, Encouraging and Worshiping.

History

25 families attended the first interest meeting in May 1991.  In 1994 Messiah called it’s first Pastor and became an official congregation of the ELCA.  The first worship services were held in The Landings Association Building, then at the Skidaway Island State Park Shelter.  Since that time Messiah has completed two building programs to accomodate the current confirmed membership of 180+.

After the retirement of Pastor/Developer Jim Peper in 2008, Messiah called Reverend Glenn Boland to serve as Intentional Interim Pastor.  In January of 2010, the Reverend Edward W. Myers was installed as the current permanent Pastor.

So What’s A Lutheran?

The name “Lutheran” identifies us as people who believe:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD – not the result of works, so that no one may boast”. Ephesians 2: 8-9
