February 8th, 2010 Welcome Visitors
New to Messiah? It’s an exciting time at Messiah as our Pastor is also new! Here is some helpful information about our church and what to expect when you visit.
Q: When do you worship?
A: We worship at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday morning. Following the service we enjoy Coffee & Fellowship in our Parish Hall. Sunday School and Christian Education classes for all ages begin at 10:30 a.m.
Q: Where do you meet?
A: Our church facilities are located at 1 West Ridge Rd., just off of McWhorther Rd. on Skidaway Island in South Savannah. See this map for details.
Q: How should I dress?
A: We enjoy a casual, friendly atmosphere so dress the way you feel comfortable. You’ll see a variety of dress from jeans to business casual to suit and tie. We’re just glad for the opportunity to meet you.
Q: Will I have to stand up and introduce myself?
A: No. We want the opportunity to meet you but won’t ask you to introduce yourself during worship. Messiah is a warm, friendly community and we actually all wear name tags to help us greet each other. As you enter our narthex you will find our Sunday “Greeters” that welcome all attendees. They have name tags available and will certainly offer you the opportunity to wear one and to sign our visitors register.
Q: Where do the kids go?
A: Messiah offers a staffed Nursery during the worship service for younger children. They are brought into worship for a brief “Children’s Sermon” and then return to the Nursery. Following worship and our coffee fellowship, Sunday School Classes begin at 10:30 a.m. for children of all ages.
Q: What about the offering?
A: Part of our worship is the expression of our thankfulness for all that God has given us. We do pass an offering plate as part of our worship service. This is intended for our members, available to all but you should not feel obligated to participate.
Q: So what’s a Lutheran?
A: The name “Lutheran” identifies us as people who believe: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD – not the result of works, so that no one may boast”. Ephesians 2: 8-9 More on Lutherans
Q: Where can I get more info?
A: Visit us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., stop by our church office, see the Contacts page to email or TWEET us. You may also be interested in this link from our ELCA for those that are New and Returning to Church.
